While Europe is still reeling under continuing Russia-Ukraine conflict Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on an intense and ambitious three nation visit to the region beginning Monday the 2nd of May 2022.

In three days he will meet seven top leaders from Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Iceland.

In his own words prime minister Modi in a statement issued said “my visit to Europe comes at a time when the region faces many challenges and choices”.

Briefing reporters the new foreign secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra reiterated that India stand on the conflict zone which calls for immediate cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.

The new foreign secretary had busy day formally taking over the top job at the MEA just two hours before the presser and thereafter flying-off to Germany in preparation for the PM’s visit.

Kwatra said this Berlin-Copenhagen-Paris visit by the prime minister will further strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership, taking forward cooperation in green energy, enhancing trade and investment, defence and security cooperation.

There will be two occasions one each at Berlin and Copenhagen where prime minister will be addressing local Indian community.

The Denmark leg will be significant in more than one way where Second India-Nordic Summit meeting will take place.

Top leadership from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland will travel to the capital city of Denmark to meet the Indian prime minister.

Vinay Kwatra highlighted that India has a unique honour, apart from the USA, to have a forum of Nordic Summit mechanism.

And on May 4th when Narendra Modi travels back to India, he will make a brief stopover at Paris to meet French President Emmanuel Macron who just 10 days back was re-elected in the French general elections.
