After recalibrating a small part of its strategy from minting missiles and battle tanks, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed a brand new bio suit to fight COVID19.

Announcement to this effect was made today i.e., on Thursday, 02 April 2020 by the Ministry of Defence.

Advance nanotechnology coating and sealing material, which is normally used by Indian Navy’s MARCOS commandos for anti-submarine assignments, has been used in this new DRDO bio-suit (hazmat suit).

In India the ‘hazmat suit’ is known as PPE – Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). It has a special coated fabric and is being used by frontline COVID19 warriors.

At least two major industrial units with production capacity of 7,000 and 15,000 units per day, have been given orders to manufacture these new hazmat suits.
