Amidst record surge in number of new covid19 cases, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced weekend curfew in the national Capital beginning 10 pm on Friday the 16th to continue till 5 am on Monday the 19th April 2021.

Movement of traffic during this time will be allowed only with curfew passes.

However various categories of individuals can travel during curfew time if they belong to exempted categories as mentioned in the order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).

Though the announcement to impose the weekend curfew was made by Arvind Kejriwal in the afternoon, the  DDMA orders could only be  formally published around 6 pm on Thursday evening.

According to many reports, the DDMA site crashed soon after weekend curfew order was uploaded as there was an unprecedented rush to download the document apparently to see what is exempted and what is allowed during the curfew.

Shops dealing with food, groceries and other essential items will remain open  however shopping malls, gymnasiums, spas, auditoriums and entertainment parks will remain close till 30th April 2021.
