July the 14th, 2022 marks a big day for the new power block of four counties known as I2U2 holding their inaugural summit meeting albeit in virtual mode.

The new group of four  I2U2 countries are, the US, India, Israel and the UAE.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the leaders said that the new geostrategic quartet has identified joint projects in several areas, and also drawn up the roadmap for going forward in those areas.

Addressing US President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan via the telecon mode, PM Modi said the four nations are not only good friends, but also share similarities in their interests and approach.

The new Israeli prime minister Yair Lapid hosted the virtual summit meeting.

Modi in his brief address,spoken in Hindi, said –

“I2U2 has developed a positive agenda since its inception:”

“The I2u2 has identified joint projects in several areas, and also drawn up a roadmap for going forward in those areas,” he said.

“We have agreed to increase joint investment in six important areas — water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security. Both the vision and agenda in I2U2 are practical,” he added.

“It is a clear that the I2U2 has a vision that is progressive and practical,” he said.

“By mobilising our countries’ strengths, like capital, expertise and markets, we can give impetus to the pace of our agenda and thereby make important contribution to the global economy.”

“In the midst of increasing global uncertainties our cooperation is a good model for practical cooperation,” the PM said.

He also voiced confidence that the summit would make important contributions in the areas of energy security, food security and economic growth.
