India now has a new foreign affairs spokesperson after Randhir Jaiswal took over a in-charge of MEA’s XP Division.

On Wednesday the 3rd of January 2024, Jaiswal formally took over his new role as baton was formally passed-on by Arindam Bagchi.

The official twitter handle on X for MEA Spokesperson also now showing Jaiswal.

Arindam Bagchi is India’s next Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva.

He is 1995-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer while Jaiswal is 1998 IFS.

Jaiswal has served in Portugal, Cuba, South Africa and at India’s permanent mission to the UN in New York.

It may be recalled that when Bagchi took over as spokesperson in March 2021, his tenure was loaded with events spanning from the COVID19 pandemic to the nasty military standoff with Chinese PLA in eastern Ladakh.

India also hosted G20 Summit where Arindam Bagchi was a point-person for the entire media.

News agency ANI is reporting that Randhir Jaiswal who previously served as consul general in New York in July 2020 was praised by the diaspora members for being actively involved in the repatriation of Indian Americans during COVID-19 pandemic.
