Allaying any fears that Pakistan had actually initiated its ‘nuclear blackmail option’ Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs that there was no ‘nuclear signalling’ by Islamabad in the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The Foreign Secretary said the conflict was ‘’conventional’’.

In a despatch on its website the news agency UNI is reporting that Vikram Misri also told the Standing Committee on External Affairs that US had no role in the cessation of the conflict and Pakistan had reached out to India on May 10 afternoon after the precision strikes by Indian Defence forces on Pakistani military installations including the Nur Khan air base.

The Foreign Secretary gave a detailed briefing to the Standing Committee on Operation Sindoor, said there was no ‘third-party mediation, sources said.

The Committee MPs also unanimously condemned the trolling of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and praised him for his professional conduct.

The Chairman of the Committee Shashi Tharoor informed media persons after the three-hour long meeting, that all MPs of the committee unanimously expressed solidary with Misri after he faced “unwarranted attacks” he was subjected to on-line harassment soon after the May 10th ceasefire.

To recapitulate Vikram Misri and his family were subject of on-line trolling after his comments at one of the pressers.

My one count, the Monday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on External Affairs was attended by 24 members.
