It was announced by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju that the Monsoon Session of the Parliament will begin on July 21st and continue till August 21st.
There will be no sitting on 13th and 14th due to Independence Day celeberations.
In a social media post Rijiju wrote, “The Hon’ble President of India has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Monsoon Session of Parliament from 21st July to 21st August, 2025. In view of the Independence Day celebrations, there will be no sittings on the 13th and 14th of August.”
Both Houses of the Parliament are scheduled to convene on July 21 at 11 am, after a break of over three months.
Earlier, Rijiju had informed that the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, had recommended the dates.
During the inter-session period since the Budget Session, the Opposition leaders have been demanding convening of a special session of Parliament to discuss ‘Operation Sindoor’ post the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.
It may be recalled that the INDIA alliance, comprising 16 opposition parties, had demanded a special or an early Parliament session after the Pahalgam terror attack.
