India and United States held consultations between top level foreign affairs officials on Wednesday the 3rd August 2022 on the issues particularly facing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

According to a release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, both the countries agreed to continue their ongoing cooperation on issues of mutual interest, including Counter Terrorism and UN Peacekeeping.

The US had send one of its top most foreign service official having the highest rank that of career ambassador, to lead its delegation for consultations on Wednesday.

She is Ambassador Michele J. Sison, an Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs in the US Department of State.

The Indian side was led by MEA’s UN expert Mr Prakash Gupta, Joint Secretary (UN-Political).

The discussions covered the priorities of both sides during the upcoming 77th Session of the UN General Assembly which is scheduled to be held between 13-27 of September 2022.

The Indian side also briefed the visiting US delegation about its priorities during the upcoming Presidency of the UNSC in December 2022, the MEA added.
