With night curfew announced in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana between 11 pm – 5 am, an alert with caution has been sounded by the Union Health Ministry on re-appearance of COVID19 cases.

In his press briefing held on 24th December 2021, the top health ministry bureaucrat said there is a global concern over a possible fourth surge in COVID19 cases and asked all citizens not to lower their guard.

“The World Health Organisation on December 7 said that Omicron has a significant growth advantage over Delta which means, it has greater transmissibility.

These new Omicron cases double within 1.5-3 days, so we have to remain vigilant with covid appropriate behaviour,” Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said.

State governments of Uttar Pradesh along with Haryana announced night curfew in their respective states from 11 pm to 5 am as a precautionary measure amid rising Omicron cases. While the curfew will come into effect from Friday night in Haryana, it will start from Saturday in Uttar Pradesh.
