On Saturday the 7th of May 2022, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) received the very first trainset for the first phase of 82.5 kilometres long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

The actual rollout ceremony was held in Gujarat where rakes of new high speed traisn are being manufactured.

In the coming weeks, he trainset will be brought on the large trailers to the Duhai depot, which is being developed at Ghaziabad at a rapid pace for the upcoming Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.

The rapid train between Delhi and Meerut will run at the speed of 180 kph cutting the commuting time by 40 per cent.

Officials from the maker of RRTS train Alstom said it will have ergonomically designed 2X2 transverse cushioned seating, CCTV cameras, wide standing space, luggage racks, dynamic route maps, laptop and mobile charging facility, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning System (HVAC), auto control ambient lighting system as well as other amenities.

The new RRTS trains will be air-conditioned and will have Standard and Premium class (one coach per RRTS train). Also there will be one coach set aside only for women passengers.
