Earlier on Sunday the 18th of May 2025, Indian Army clarified that no talks are scheduled with Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) today and there is “no expiry date” to the 12th May ceasefire as announced earlier.
“Some media houses are reporting that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan is ending today,” the Indian Army said.
“In addition, queries are also being received if DGMO-level talk is scheduled today? The response is — No DGMO talks are scheduled today,” it said.
The Indian Army added, “As far as continuation of break in hostilities, as decided in DGMOs’ interaction of May 12, is concerned, there is no expiry date to it.”
It may be recalled that on Monday last that is on 12th of May 2025, India and Pakistan agreed to take steps towards the immediate reduction of troops on the borders and forward areas and desist from firing even a single shot.
Military commanders from both sides also decided they would not initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other.
The ceasefire to the 100 hour long missile battering by Indian Air Force (IAF) happened when desperate Pakistan requested the DGMO of the Indian Army on hot line on 10th of May for immediate stoppage of bombing of Pakistan.
Thereafter both sides agreed to stop all firing on land, air and sea with ceasefire coming into effect from 5 pm (IST) onwards on 10th of May 2025.
Both the DGMOs also decided to talk again on 12th May.
All major terrorist targets in Pakistan were bombed with pin-pointed accuracy by India on 7th of May 2025 in an attempt to teach the enemy a lesson after Pak trained killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam on 22nd April.
Operation Sindoor was formally launched and still continues till date with Indian defence apparatus standing on high alert 24X7.
It is widely believed that more than 100 terrorists, including top commanders of JeM and LeT terror groups, were eliminated in first phase of Operation Sindoor.
